Helping Families Stay Close When It Matters Most

Through its partnership with Ronald McDonald House Westchester, the MCU Foundation helps provide meals, lodging and comfort to families with children receiving hospital care.

For Lisa, whose son Theo has been receiving care in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU), that support has made a profound difference. She shared what the experience has meant to her family:

When we first found out that our son Theo would be spending a significant amount of time in the NICU, we knew there would be a lot of things that we would have to worry about. Thankfully, some major concerns were things we didn’t have to worry about. Where would we sleep? How and where would we get meals? And most important, how would we manage being close to our baby while still having a place for our family to feel at home.

Being able to stay at RMH Westchester has meant more to us than we could ever put into words. There is just a small parking lot that separates us from our son, which means we can be there for him without long drives back and forth in the morning and evening. And just as important, our daughter Juliet has a place to play, be comfortable, and still feel like a kid while her little brother is in the NICU.

There is also a special connection to this for our family. My dad worked for MCU for 22 years. So, when I learned that the MCU Foundation was involved in supporting the Ronald McDonald House, it immediately felt personal. An organization that was such a big part of my childhood is now helping my family through one of the hardest times of our lives.

We are incredibly grateful to RMH Westchester, the MCU Foundation, and every staff member and volunteer who makes this place possible. We cannot wait until our son is out of the NICU and we are in a place to give back to Ronald McDonald House. But for now, thank you for giving our family a place to stay, a place to breathe, and most importantly, the ability to stay close to our baby.

In the first half of 2026, this partnership provided more than 12,000 meals to families at RMH Westchester, Maria Fareri Children’s Hospital and Blythedale Children’s Hospital.
