MCU Foundation Members

We’re passionate about creating a better future for New York City. Our leadership team is committed to our mission of eliminating poverty and building generational wealth, and each officer brings their own personal connection to the city we love.

George Chacon

George Chacon serves as MCUF’s inaugural president, bringing a dedication to New York City’s LMI (low- and moderate-income) communities to the role. As MCU’s Chief Strategy Officer, George oversees Strategic Planning, Digital Channels, Transformation, Organizational Agility, Marketing, and Community Engagement. George has over 20 years of retail, strategy, and innovation experience with banks and credit unions.

As a first-generation American, born and raised in New York City and a product of the NYC Public School system, George knows, first hand, how difficult it is for families to climb the socioeconomic ladder. Helping to lead the Foundation is his way of giving back to the city that has given him so much.

Frank Madeira

Frank Madeira is MCU’s Chief Financial Officer. An experienced banking finance executive, he joined MCU from Affinity Federal Credit Union where he most recently served as Senior Vice President for Finance & Payments. Before getting into the credit union industry, Frank spent many years in banking at TD Bank and CIT. He has extensive experience in treasury, accounting, strategic planning and capital markets, as well as a deep understanding of lending, payments, deposits and retail operations.

The child of an NYC union carpenter and a housecleaner – both of whom arrived as immigrants to the US with just the shirts on their backs – who eventually raised 5 children, Frank’s serving on the MCU Foundation is his way of paying it forward, helping families to rise above their socio-economic challenges.

Toni-Ann Sforza

MCU Foundation Secretary Toni-Ann Sforza is MCU’s Chief Operating Officer. For more than 18 years, she has served in various leadership roles within New York’s financial services sector, most recently with Amalgamated Bank and Apple Bank.

The grandchild of immigrants, Toni-Ann grew up in Yonkers, NY, with extended family that has served New York City as Teamsters, teachers, police, and firefighters – and run a small business in the Bronx for over 40 years – so she has a vested interest in ensuring that all the residents of NYC have the opportunity to succeed and thrive.

Kelly Gerber

Kelly Gerber serves as an MCUF board member, which she views as her opportunity to give back to the great City of New York and to help foster socioeconomic success through continued education. Growing up in a family of blueberry and corn farmers in southern New Jersey, Kelly learned the value of education from an early age. This led to her being the first in her family to graduate college, earning both undergraduate (Phi Beta Kappa) and law degrees from Rutgers University.

Kelly is MCU’s Chief Risk Officer, where she has responsibilities over Enterprise Risk Management, Vendor Management, Financial Crimes & Intelligence, BSA/AML, Information Security, Quality Control & Quality Assurance, Portfolio Risk Analysis, Business Continuity Planning, and Incident Response. She was formerly with Republic Bank in Philadelphia, Huntingdon Valley Bank, and Beneficial Bank.

Cania Infante

Cania Infante is a director of the MCU Foundation, where she is thrilled to share her passion for lifting people out of poverty, especially through education. An immigrant to the US at the age of 10, and a graduate of New York state public schools, she credits public education with the advances she has made in her career. She hopes to bring this passion to the Foundation helping to focus efforts on education for New York City’s young people.

Cania is MCU’s Chief Marketing Officer, with responsibility for marketing, internal communications, public relations, community engagement, business development, and digital strategy. She came to MCU after a two-decade career at Bethpage Federal Credit Union, where she started as a teller and rose to the position of Vice President of Marketing.

As MCU’s Chief Information Officer, Juan oversees the Technology team which encompass, Network Infrastructure, System Development, Computer Operations, ATM Operations & Systems Application Support. Juan has over 30 years of experience innovating with credit unions.

Juan was born Lima, Peru and raised in Los Angeles CA. Working in the Credit Union movement since his first job, he knows the importance of serving members of all classes, and how families can benefit by having a strong financial foundation, as support of the LMI communities is part of the mission of the Credit Union movement. Lending his support to leading the Foundation is his way of giving back to the great city of New York.

Michael Savino

Michael Savino serves as an MCUF board member, contributing his insight and knowledge in consumer lending to the work of the board, with a special expertise in home financing. He is dedicated to the belief that home ownership is the path to eliminating poverty and building generational wealth, and excited to help forward the Foundation’s goal of increasing homeownership in New York City by delivering programs to support New Yorkers on their home buying journey.

Bringing over 19 years of retail banking and lending experience honed at Citizens Bank and Teachers Federal Credit Union to MCU, he is MCU’s chief lending officer, where he works to make the homebuying process easier and more affordable, helping to close the poverty gap for the heroes of NYC.

Andrew Weltman

MCUF board member Andrew Weltman joined the MCU executive team in the autumn of 2022. He comes to MCU with a broad background in legal affairs and a deep understanding of MCU’s operations and its membership. Having most recently served as the Director of Legal at SeedFi, a mission driven financial technology firm, he was previously Vice President/In-House Counsel at Union Privilege/Union Plus where he oversaw the development of financial services and insurance products for millions of members of AFL-CIO affiliated organizations.
